A few simple habits will keep your designer bag looking its best for years.

Leather

Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Keep it away from strong sun, heat and damp. Every so often, treat it with a conditioner made for fine calfskin.

Suede

Refresh the nap with a gentle suede brush. Avoid water and apply a suede protector before the first outing.

Raffia and canvas

Dab marks with a slightly damp cloth and let the bag dry naturally, away from heaters. Shape it while still damp so the silhouette stays true.

Storing

Keep the bag upright, lightly padded and inside its dust bag, out of the light. Do not leave it hanging by the straps for long.
